Difficulty filters use the mtb:scale OSM tag — only tagged trails are affected. Filtered trails are heavily avoided but not hard-excluded. Sections without any difficulty tag are highlighted in amber on the map — these are the most likely places to need to push your bike. Tick Avoid uncertain trails to route around those amber sections — it overrides the Trails slider, so even trails you've ridden are dropped.
